I
believe technology makes the education better and
enjoyable. Although we don't have much opportunity to use
technology in our classrooms in Turkey, I could create
new activities and sources on my computer to use in the
class. One of the important issues in education is
development of cognitive ability. Technology is very
useful to develop cognitive intelligence. Some students
state that they are not as good in math as they are good
in social science. If teachers don't give students the
opportunity to show their intelligences in those areas,
they may think they don't have the ability to learn. For
this reason, an equal attention must be given to all
subjects to let students discover their strengths. The
question is how well classroom teachers understand
multiple intelligences and use them in the
classrooms.
Every
type of intelligence could help other types of
intelligences to develop. Multimedia presentations,
video, projected and non-projected visuals may help
students with linguistic, logical- mathematical, and
spatial intelligences. Video case study presentations and
demonstrations could be helpful for students with strong
intra-personal and inter-personal intelligences.
Non-projected visuals and materials could assist strong
spatial and bodily-kinesthetic intelligences. Therefore,
as an important part of the environment factors, using
technology in education has a great effect on development
of students' intelligence.
