Internet Acceptable Use Policy (AUP)
PLEASE READ THIS DOCUMENT CAREFULLY BEFORE SIGNING
Internet access is now available to students and teachers at the KCMJ School. We believe the Internet offers unique resources to both students and teachers. Our goal in providing this service to teachers and students is to promote educational excellence in school.
The Internet, a global electronic information environment, is used by educators, businesses, the government, the military, and organizations. As a learning resource, the Internet is similar to books, magazines, video, CD-ROM, and other information sources. Students and teachers will have access to: 1) information and news from NASA as well other research institutions, 2) public domain software and graphics of all types for school use, 3) discussion groups on a variety of topics, 4) access to many university library catalogs, the Library of Congress, and a large collection of relevant information to educators and students, and 5) access to the World Wide Web, the newest and most exciting access tool on the Internet.
With access to computers and people all over the world also comes the availability of sensitive or controversial material. The KCMJ School has taken precautions to restrict access to these materials. However, on a global network it is impossible to control all materials and a curious user may find them. We firmly believe that the valuable information on this worldwide network far out weighs the possibility that users may find material that is not consistent with the educational goals of KCMJ.
The smooth operation of the Internet relies upon the proper conduct of the users who must agree to strict guidelines. These guidelines are provided here so that you are aware of the responsibilities you are about to accept. In general this requires efficient, ethical and legal use of the network. If a KCMJ user violates any of these provisions, their access may be terminated and future access could be denied.
The signatures at the end of this document are legally binding an indicates the person who signed has read the terms and conditions carefully AND understands them.
