Frank Asch
Frank Asch has written many popular books in his "Bear" series. Probably the best known is Happy Birthday Moon. I like the fact that in each book Bear and his friend Little Bird enjoy the world and each other's company without expensive toys. They think of something to play, learn or do. When they want to know more about something (like the moon) they make a plan and try it. Even though they usually come up with ideas that are unusual, they are using good problem-solving ideas.
Mr. Asch has written other famous children's books such as The Last Puppy and my favorite, Turtle Tale. (Sometimes you should stick your neck out and sometimes it's best that you don't.)
Bear thought he visited the moon in the book Mooncake. Visit this place to read about the Apollo 11 astronauts who really did visit the moon.

Here is a NASA site for kids with some great space shuttle movies and current space news.
Find more information about bears at The Cub Den.
All these places could give you good ideas for stories. Why not write a story where you and a good friend solve a problem together?
This is Mr. Asch's great web site. There is lots of fun stuff for kids and teachers. Enjoy!
