Introduction
HEAR YE, HEAR YE:
His royal majesty the great King Henry VIII has called you forth to go on a special mission. The term Renaissance means "rebirth". During the time of the Renaissance Europe saw an explosion of new art, philosophy, religion, and literature. Such authors as William Shakespeare and John Milton lived during this time.
Although the Renaissance time is coined as being "fun, fun, fun", problems still existed throughout Europe. You have been called forth by the great King Henry VIII to find out what is happening in his shire and develop a newsletter to report your finding. Thou shall have exactly two weeks to find your discoveries and report back to his royal majesty.
Task
1. Each group of two students will research a different subject on the Renaissance.
2. Each group will develop a column to be displayed in The Renaissance Newsletter.
3. After each student completes their research all of the information will be combined into newsletter format and published for the rest of the school.
Process
The steps to complete the project are as follows:
1. Students will divide into groups of two.
2. Both members will select one of the topics listed below. No two groups will research the same topic.
3. Each team will collaboratively write a column for the newsletter describing an aspect of everyday life of Europe during the Renaissance.
4. As a group we will design the layout of our newsletter to distribute to the rest of the school.
