Introduction
Through scientific discovery over the past 200 years, life in the year 2000 is drastically different than in the 1700's and 1800's. The discovery and harnessing of electricity has significantly impacted our lives in the 21st century.
Our society is increasingly becoming more and more dependent on electricity. You can find evidence of our dependency on electricity all around us.
The Task
There are two kinds of electricity: current electricity and static electricity. Current electricity is electricity that flows through a substance that conducts electricity such as copper wire. Static electricity is electricity that is "at rest" and doesn't move like current electricity.
A circuit is a path that electricity goes through. There are three basic parts to a circuit: an energy source (battery), an output devise (light or motor), and a connection (wires). A closed circuit as a unbroken pathway of conductors through which an electric current flows. If any part of the circuit is removed or not connected, the current can not flow and circuit is then considered open.
There are two kinds of circuits: series circuits and parallel circuits. In a series circuit, electricity has only one path to travel from one point on the circuit through the wires, batteries, and bulbs and back to the starting point. In a parallel circuit, electricity travels along more than one path around the circuit.
Conductors and insulators are important components in electric circuits. Conductors are materials through which electricity can travel. Insulators, on the other hand, are materials through which electricity cannot travel.
Story- Write a story with the title, "The Nights the Lights Went Out in Phoenix". The story should include all the elements of a story: setting, characters, problem, solution, and resolution.
Song or rap- Create a song or rap about electricity. The song or rap needs to include information from electricity.
