This is an interesting and informative article concerning the approach teachers might take when teaching science fiction. The genre is sometimes ignored, and this article may encourage teachers to keep it in their curriculums.
This is a wonderful resource. It consists of may links for the instruction and learning of English, grammar, spelling, etc. It has links to grammar and writing guides as well as literature and poetry resources.
Students who are required to do research on American authors would find this site helpful because it includes links to many writers. My juniors write research papers on 20th Century American authors then use their information to create PowerPoint presentation. This site has information they could use for both assignments.
Literature Resources - Fiction
This site is very specific to teaching literary elements in language arts. This site has helpful links and information on all of the literary elements that students must identify and analyze.
The site provides a very specific resource for teachers based on the instruction of literary elements. Activities are outlined for teacher use. These activities would be good for reviewing literary elements while reading short stories.
SCORE: The Crucible Teacher's Guide
Teachers who are teaching "The Crucible" will find great resources here. This site is a detailed unit for the instruction of the play. Content standards are listed and activities and materials are outlined. It is well-developed and includes Internet activities.
Learning Guide to "The Crucible" Teaching with Movies
Teachers usually like to show the movie versions of books and plays that they read in their classes. It is also an expectation that they do that. Still, it is difficult to justify the use of movies. This site is great because it provides ideas for teachers and includes a great deal of background information on Arthur Miller and the play. In addition, the two versions of the movie are discussed.
English and Language Arts: Professional Concerns
This site is packed full of valuable links for English teachers. The beginning of the website is misleading because it appears as though it is just a biographical page, but it is much more. There are links to lesson plans and other sites are listed that focus on individual novels and plays.
This is just one of the lessons available through this district's lesson plan archive. It is poem-writing activity for students in grades 7-12. I often have my high school students write different poems. This provides a structure for them to follow. The site includes the plan and accompanying handout.

This is one of the the lessons available at Teachers.Net. This particular lesson is another approach to poetry writing.

This branch of the website lists links to instructional tools for the teaching of novels. Other branches of the site list books for all grades levels. This site is a helpful resources for teachers who need a little assistance in planning their novel units.

This is an interesting webquest based on The Crucible by Arthur Miller.
This site is an interesting resource. I like it because it is easy to navigate and informative. Students and teachers can use to find information on writing research papers, paragraphs and sentences. In addition, there are grammar links and links to PowerPoint presentations on grammar (for teacher use).
Academy Curricular Exchange Columbia Education Center Language
This site provides a fun story starter lesson plan. All teachers could use this from grade school to high school. Students create stories based on objects they draw from a paper bag.
