Dear Educator,

This webquest is intended for the use of elementary students grades 3-6. It is a multidisciplinary activity centered around the theme of volcanoes. I chose this subject do to the the interest it creates amongst our learners. I hope this activity will convince you to implement more technology into your classroom.

In order to interact with this activity the learn must use tactile, visionary, and auditory skills. It will also challenge the abilities of all who use it. Most importantly it will engage the learner to actively participate instead of passively watch.

Using this webquest over the internet connects the learner to many sources such as experts and scientists that are online that can answer a question by electronic mail. Classes can collaborate from different schools or with members of the community to enhance each other's learning. Being on the internet allows learners to be up to the minute to what is current in the subject they are studying. Finally the internet allows the student to be the center of the learning where they can have a sense of ownership.

Thank you for taking the time to allow your students to learn over the internet and my webquest. While your students are engaged in this activity observe how they react to the materials and sites. Then ask yourself. Would they give they same reaction from a text book ? Probably not.
