WebQuest
Introduction
Welcome to the Jump Rope Demonstration Team WebQuest. This jump rope lesson has been developed as an extension to the Jump Rope For Heart, Just Jump, and HeartPower units that are used in the physical education class at Westwind Elementary School. The WebQuest has been designed as a final project for the 6th, 7th, and 8th grade P. E. classes.
Your job, as you venture into this WebQuest, is to put together a jump rope demonstration team. When you have gathered your group of 5 to 6 classmates your task will be to work with your team to develop a jump rope demonstration to present to the rest of the class.
The Task
Your task will be to form a demonstration team with 5 to 6 of your classmates. Once you have formed your team you will have 3 to 4 weeks to prepare your presentation.
Your demonstration team will be researching, writing, and developing a jump rope presentation that will include:
- all skill levels for short and long ropes ( Basic, Intermediate, and Advanced)- partner skills (short ropes)
- long rope skills
- double dutch skills
- music (optional)
The Process
To accomplish this task you must, as a cooperative group, go through the following steps.
- Make sure that everyone in your group has a part of the assignment that they are responsible for. (i.e.: library research, interviews, Web research, to name a few)- each student in the group will keep a journal that documents all of your resources and the information you have gathered
- research from the following sources: books, magazines, interviews, and the Internet
- after the presentation is developed, write a paper that describes each component of your presentation - you may present 1 paper for the entire group
- don't forget to schedule your presentation day and time as soon as you are ready
- Practice, practice, practice.
