Biography
At the young age of 8 I won the Miss Nebraska beauty pagent. This was to be the pattern of my life, just one beauty trophy after another. Ok, so you have seen my picture and know that really isn't the case, but, I did have you going there for awhile, didn't I?
I was born in Wyoming then we moved to Nebraska where we had a farm that was by the Oregon Trail, right next to Chimney Rock. (This is true, none of that beauty stuff.) We packed off to Oregon where I lived in all the fine greenery, scenery and rain. My husband and I ended up moving to Phoenix and have called this home for over 20 years. I think that almost makes me a native!
I am very fortunate to have a family I both love and am very proud of. My husband is a wonderful source of support who goes out of his way to help me at work. He even built a beautiful trophy cabinet for our school! My daughter, who is both bright and beautiful, has just graduated from high school and is ready to make her way up north to Northern Arizona State University. My son will be entering his second year of high school and continues to see if he can officially drive me up the wall on a regular basis (he really is a good kid, just don't let him know I said that!).
In high school I decided I wanted to become a teacher but that dream wasn't realized until 6 years ago (I never was very quick in life!) when I began teaching in the Glendale Elementary School District. I will never forget the first day I walked into my own classroom, I smiled so big it hurt!
During these last 6 years I have taught 5th and 6th grades and have loved working with the "older" kids. I do believe that many of us teachers are really just frustrated actors and that must be why I love my captive audience.
I am sure you are wondering why the cows? Several years ago I brought a few things from my cow collection at home to put on my desk at school. Well, once the students got ahold of this they went crazy. My classroom is full of all sorts of bovine. I take great pride in being known as the "Cow Teacher".
