General Science Websites
Bill Nye IS the Science Guy!
In my opinion he is the greatest contribution to elementary science
in years and his website will prove it. He offers tips for teachers,
demos and more. The top rating I give for websites is 5 cows, but,
Bill would definitely get 6 dancing cows from me!

Earth Science Websites
When we studied earth science
this year the students got a good deal of their information
on volcanos from this site, "Volcano World". ![]()

Below are some of the other sites we used this year when we studied plate tectonics. I would recommend them all.
Volcanoes of the United States
I have used all the these
sites in my classroom over the last year and recommend them for 5-7th
grade. They are easy to navigate and clearly written. They all

The 6th grade students in my class do a report on a scientist. This year they used several resources and we had a great time finding things on the web to help with their reports. We even learned to save pictures from the web to be included in their reports. Below are a few of the websites we used.
An
American Experience
(This page will take to you a
virtual tour of George Eastman's house. The students thought it was
the "coolest"!)
Who can live without search
engines? Learning to use them is something we all need to do (in our
spare time, right?) and it is time well-spent! Instead of offering a
bunch of my own I would like to provide the link to Dr. Alice
Christie's website (Arizona State University, West Campus) that
provides not only a wonderful list of search engines (which are
categorized!) but links to sites that can teach you more about the
fine art of using search engines. This site is a real gold mine and
deserves a full ![]()

super site!
Warning, if you go to the
webiste below be prepared to invest some time ! Jason Collette from
Florida has an incredible site filled with an abundance of helpful
information for teachers. Deserves a ![]()

This website is part of the
Educational Services & Staff Development Association of Kansas
(home to Dorothy and Toto). Tools for teachers has some super ideas
and helpers for teacher. Once caution - the section "Harvesting
information from the internet" doesn't address the issue of copyright
laws. ![]()

Parent/Teacher/Student site---Kid info. A student introduced me to Kid Info and we ended up using it all year long. The kids found it very easy to move around in and we able to find great sites to use in their reports and other work. Deserves a

Spend a little time here and
you will end up with tons of help and info even if your school
doesn't have the Encarta software. ![]()

I know you think I wouldn't be much of a cow enthusiast if I didn't provide some links to a few cow sites. So, below is a "one stop" web site for cow lovers. Of course there are many more sites, but this is a good place to start.
