Acceptable Use Policy

It is important to first remember that at the beginning of the year you signed an Electronic Information Resource School/Student-User contract. Any violation of that will result in disciplinary action, the revoking of your user account, and appropriate legal action. The rules of conduct described in the Student Handbook apply when you are on the network. If you can not remember what is on this contract, I will be happy to provide you with a copy. In addition, you should be familiar with the District's Student User Privileges below.

Educational Purpose: The Internet for use within our school is limited to educational purpose only. Educational purpose is considered to be classroom activities, career development and self-discovery activities which will be monitored by the teacher and/or other support staff such as the media center coordinator.

Prohibited and Unacceptable Uses: Include but are not limited to;

a. Transmission of any material in violation of any United States or other state organizations. Some examples are: copyrighted material, threatening or obscene material, or material protected by trade secret.

b. Commercial activities by for-profit institutions.

c. Use of product advertisement or political lobbying.

d. Revealing home addresses or other personal information about yourself or anyone connected to the school.

e. Use of the network in any way that would disrupt the use of the network by others.

Inappropriate Viewing: The Internet may provide access to inappropriate sites. A filtering system is in use by the district; yet, this is not an absolute prevention. Students are prohibited from viewing inappropriate sites which include illegal acts, unethical or illegal solicitation, pornography, racism, or inappropriate language. If you are unsure of whether a site is appropriate simply ask the teacher immediately.

Email: Remember that you are using a school account and any postings will be governed by the rules of the Student Handbook. Any postings are not private and will reflect upon the school district.

Do's:

a. Use appropriate language.

b. Be polite and honest.

c. Follow the rules governing this contract.

d. Use common sense.

e.  Use all the resources available to you to further your knowledge and enjoy.
