Welcome to

Arizona--Land of Diversity

Introduction

Your relatives, who live on the eastern seaboard are going to visit Arizona on vacation. They have never been to the state before. You are going to be out of state during their visit, therefore, you must design an itinerary for your visitors. You decide your itinerary will be a series of brochures that will guide your relatives through the state's unique history.

The Task

Please follow the directions below very carefully.

1. Divide into groups of three.

2. Each person of the team will have a role to play during each activity.

  • Biographer--This member will be researching the important people that your relatives will be learning about along the way.
  • Navigator--Will be mapping out the journey and determining what routes to take.
  • Historian--Investigating the places and sights for the trip.
**Each time you switch to a new topic in Arizona history, you will want to switch roles.

3. As your team browses the internet sites, you will need to evaluate the sites and collect pertinent information on SCRAP forms and Arizona maps.

4. After you collect the facts about the wonderful places and people who made Arizona what it is today. Your team will create a brochure about that time period in Arizona History.

The Process

Arizona is a land where many people have lived and left their mark upon the land. The following groups of sites chronical these people and their lasting heritage upon our state. Browse the sites in each catagory and trade roles each time you enter a new group of people. Have fun and don't forget to use SCRAP's for taking notes and using the Arizona map to chart your route.
