Philosophy
Learning is an active process. We
are in the midst of an information explosion and we need to provide
students with strategies essential to adapt to new situations. We
need to create our future and this requires new approaches. We should
teach our students to become actively involved in the learning
process. Students need the tools to become problem solvers in a
society in which the future is always changing.
The ultimate goal is to have
students become self-regulated learners who are active seekers,
processors, and evaluators of information. Students need to be able
to construct meaning and engage in cognitive activities to help
foster this. They need to learn how to become constructors of
knowledge, attaching meaning to new and prior information.
Technology is a means to engage
students in the learning process. Students need to develop strategies
which will enable them to develop understanding, problem solve, and
attain the skills required to problem solve in a technology driven,
ever-changing society.
