Introduction

The City of Arachnid has lost its favorite spider. Our class has been called in to find the missing spider. But, before you can leave on our class expedition you must work together to become spider experts and to discover some interesting facts about arachnids (spiders).

 Task

After reading the book Spiders by Gail Gibbons, work with your two partners to discover the following:

• identify three types of spiders
• identify three types of webs
• illustrate and label the two parts of a spider's body
• define spiderling
• visit bookmarked sites to learn more about spiders
• make a Spider Step Book on a spider of your choice
• create an egg-carton spider which depicts the spider body parts

and then share your findings with the class.

• Read Spiders by Gail Gibbons
• Use the above web sites and books to learn more information about spiders
• Keep a Spider Log for all your facts and information
• Work together to make a Spider Step Book on a spider of your group's choice
• Share your findings with the class
