Notes to the Teacher

This WebQuest was created as our introduction to Dairy Farming. The objectives are: to compare and contrast different types of farms, to learn about dairy cows, and to prepare the students for our field trip to the dairy farm.

The only areas that the students will be evaluated by the teacher is: 1) did they write and draw in their journals and 2) did they participate positively with their peers while completing this WebQuest.

The milking bucket consists of all the supplies necessary to create a paper cup cow and milk it. The supplies are as follows:

white paper cup (unwaxed)

black or brown crayons or permanent markers

duct tape

surgical glove

1/2 cup water

a thumb tack to prick a hole in the glove

a pen or pencil

Reminder: Each child will need their own supplies.

As an extension activity we will make butter to put on muffins.

To make the butter you will need:

Whipping Cream
