-Then compare what you read to the experiments you did with the stream tables. How were the experiments with stream tables good models for how the Grand Canyon was formed? Discuss what things were missing from the stream table experiments, that led to the formation of the Grand Canyon. Can the missing pieces be added to to the stream table experiment? Do you think that by adding the missing elements that this would change the results of the stream table experiments?
-Prepare your answers as slides for your Power Point Presentation.
-Copy at least one image from the readings to use in your presentation.Link: Grand Canyon Geology1. From the link below re the section on " Why does the Grand Canyon look like it does?"
2. Based on what you read:-Option 1: Draw four frames that illustrate how the Grand Canyon has changed over time. Label the features that were described in your readings. Then scan the drawings and use them as part of your Power Point presentation.-Option 2: Study the information and illustration on the "Grand Staircase" Copy the image and create at least two slides that discuss why there are so many layers, and the significance of each.

2. Describe in your journal how the animation was similar to the stream table experiments and how they were different. what conclusions can you you make about the fore of water and erosion?Link: Erosion and the Grand Canyon1. Enlarge each of the photos on the Grand Canyon photos link below.

What are the similarities? what are there differences? What might account for the differences in features of these two canyons?Link: Bryce Canyon Photos
Erosion is not just a problem that remote areas away from cities have to worry about. Erosion can be a problem at home as well as in remote areas. Read the information on erosion in the San Francisco Bay area. Then look at the pictures of erosion control that you can find around the Phoenix area.
Link #1 : Why worry about erosion?
