Job Descriptions:1. Scribe - The scribe will record the information from each activity. This is an important role because all of the information you need for your Power Point presentation will come from here.2. Web Quest Master - This person will navigate through the Web Quest for each days activities.
3. Information Director - The information director will lead group discussions, make sure everyone is on task and monitor time.

1. From the link below, read the information on the California Gold Rush and explore the links about the wagon trails leading early miners out west.This activity is designed to give you background knowledge on the Gold Rush and serve as a reference link for your final project.Link: California Wagon Trail 1. From the link below read the section on "The Journey West" Explore all three ways that miners made the journey out west.-Draw these trails in Hyper Studio on 3 separate cards.
-Explain the benefits and drawbacks of each route in your Hyper Studio stack.Link: The Journey West 1. From the link below explore the section on "Gold Fever" Investigate the causes of Gold Fever.-In your group write a persuasive article for a local newspaper in 1849 explaining why heading out west is a great idea. Be sure to anticipate arguments from others and address them in your report.
-Illustrate a drawing to go along with your article and create a new card or two for your Hyper Studio Project.Link: Gold Fever 1. From the link below investigate the the section on "Early Californians" Read about how their culture and lifestyle influenced the California Gold Rush.-In your groups create a travel brochure to California during the Gold Rush. Be sure to include the reasons for visiting California, the culture of California's people, the geography and it's history.
-Include illustrations either taken from your research or freehanded. Create your brochure in your Hyper Studio stack.Link: Early Californians 1. Visit the following site from the Oakland Museum.
- In your group or on your own study the photos from the Gold Rush.
-After viewing all of the pictures copy 3 of them (make sure you give credit in your bibliography) and create a Power Point presentation that discusses how these three pictures are good examples of life during the Gold Rush.Link: Oakland Museum 1. Explore the following site that examines three different routs to the riches of California.
-Stop at each port along the way and investigate what each stop has to offer.
-In your group create 2-3 Hyper Studio Cards that illustrate which route would have been most beneficial to reaching California.
-Explain which route you would have taken and why as well as which route you would never have taken and why.Link: Gold Rush Adventure The final project for this web quest is to create a Hyper Studio stack from the information you have been gathering. From each activity you should have created 1-2 cards that describe what you learned along with the completed assignment for that activity. Your project should include:1. Title card with project name and group members.
2. 1-2 cards for each activity.
3. Photo pages & illustrations.
4. Bibliography card.
5. Credits page: A fun page designed to give credit to group members or others who contributed to the project.
