When am I ever going to use math?
(Webquest)

Because it doesn't provide students much in the way of immediate results, many students turn off to mathematics. This exercise is intended to help answer this question for senior high students and to be both motivational and instructive historically, technologically, and perhaps mathematically.

The Historical Roots of the Calculus
(Webquest)

This exercise will briefly explore the historical development of calculus from Zeno of Elea (about 450 BC) to Cauchy in the 19th Century. Along the way you should gain an appreciation of inquiry and discovery and the individuals and their world views that brought about modern science.

Zoo Mathematics
(Webquest)

Students should:
  • Learn about the habitats of rare and endangered species
  • Increase their internet searching skills
  • Work together to develop the plan for a model zoo
  • Apply mathematical knowledge to develop meaningful graphs which represent the status of the worlds rare and endangered species
