Acceptable Use Policy

Educational Purpose
1) Internet will be used to access educationally based material.
Student Internet Access
1. Internet access will be limited to Web access and email use.
Student Training
1. Students will receive training upon acceptable uses of Internet, including Web and email. use
Unacceptable Uses
1) Posting of student information (i.e., last name, address, or phone number).
2) Non-teacher directed , unsupervised chat rooms (i.e., acceptable to use NASA chat with a scientist)
3) Random, unsupervised searching of Web.
4) Use of sites containing inappropriate language or topics.
5) Unauthorized use of copyrighted work.
Student/Parent/Teacher Responsibilities
1) Student will stay in teacher authorized sites on the Web.
2) Parents will be notified when students access web sites that contain inappropriate material.
3) Because email networks are not considered to be absolutely secure, all information to be emailed will be teacher previewed and edited when necessary.
4) Teachers will preview and monitor web sites presented to students.
5) Students or teachers will not use classroom computer for sending personal email.
6) Teachers will not post student classroom work, art work, or pictures on the Web without parental permission.
Consequences of Misuse
1. Loss of Internet privileges (access is a privilege not a right).
My child has permission to use the Internet to access teacher directed web sites.
My child has permission to use the Internet to send and receive teacher directed email.
I give permission for an unnamed photograph of my child to appear on his/her teacher's web site.
My child has permission to share his/her work with other students using the Internet as a medium.
