Sociology Bytes Politics

Notes for Teachers

This Webquest was designed as a unit for a Sociology class. If you are interested in doing this project for a Government or History class, you may be able to with a bit of adjusting. You will need to change the conclusion and perhaps add information on the current political parties. The names of the political parties that were taken do line-up with the Sociological theories attached to them: the Whigs were the liberal political party in England/ the Interactionist perspective (led by Max Weber) focuses on how individuals interact with one another in society; the Tories were the conservative party in England/ the Functionalist perspective (led by Emile Durkheim) focuses on society as a set of interrelated parts that work together to produce a stable social system; Mir was a small Russian village that at the turn of the 18th century was a successful Communist society, prior to the invention of "Communism." / the Conflict perspective in Sociological thought (led by Karl Marx) focuses on forces in society that promote competition and change.

GOOD LUCK AND HAVE FUN!!
