What does this animal look like?

A grazing (grass eating) mammal belonging to the same family as zebras and donkeys. The many breeds of domestic horse of Euro-Asian origin range in color from white to gray, brown, and black.

How big does this animal get?

The size of horses range from the miniature horse which stands at 31 inches, to a pony at less than 58 inches, to the Largest breed of heavy horse, which is the draught horse. The largest horse in the world stood at 68 inches.

When full grown how much does this animal weigh?

The heaviest horse is the Belgian up to 3,150 lb.

Where does this animal live?

Habitat

The horse lives in family groups on grasslands.

What does this animal eat?

Horses are strictly herbivores, which means they eat only plants—in particular, grass. A horse needs about 8 - 12 gallons of water per day.

Where does this animal get their food?

Most horses today are domesticated (tame), which means they depend on humans to feed them. Other wild horses graze in forest & rainforest, grassland areas. These wild hoses will graze from 10 to 13 hours a day.

How long does this animal live?

The horse's life span is about 20-35 years.

Racehorses can gallop at up to about 42 mph.

There are basically three types of domestic horse: the light riding horse, the heavy horse or draught horse, and the pony. Horses sleep standing up, but if they feel safe, they will sleep lying down.
