Welcome to the Life Science
Page!
Over the next few months our class will be learning about the
Life Sciences. We start the unit by learning about our classes
human environments (habitats) i.e., bedroom, classroom and school
environments. Than we move on to learn about the different habitats
that other animals live in, e.g. Habitats.
Next, we move on to study animals from our list of animals A to
Z, which the students created. Student will use The
Animal Page
from this site and a few other age appropriate sites on the Internet
to answer questions about their animals. They will also ask the
question like, What makes their animal similar and different from
other animals? We end the animal study with a culminating activity
and presentation. Finally, we will end the Life Science Unit in
the spring with the study of plants.
All the activities are based on State
Standards
and District
Curriculum.
My Goal
for this LIFE SCIENCE Site and Unit is that it will
be used as both a tool and resource by students, teacher and
parents. As part of a Masters program I am learning best practices
for Integrating technology into the first grade curriculum.
My primary objectives are: The Student will know and
apply best practices of the District
AUP.
The Student will use technology (data bases) to access information
about specific topics. Students will participate in various
independent and group projects, using several applications and
tools of technology. This will be done through the use of digital
cameras, scanners, graphic organizers, launch pages, web
quests
and rubrics (self assessment tool). Students will complete individual
and group projects which will be presented in class and displayed
on the projects
page
of this site.
