My Autobiography

My name is Mr. McClure. I was born in Alexandria Virginia. Shortly after my birth, my family moved to Europe as a result of my father assignment with the USAF. We spent the next six years both in Germany and France. Once my family returned to the states, I continued with my elementary and secondary education (FMA) in Virginia. After high school, I attended George Mason College for two years. Three decades later I would finish my undergraduate education at ASU with a Bachelor of Science degree in Political Science.

My quest to enter the field of education started during my tenure at Xerox Corporation in the late seventies and early eighties. I worked both as a technician and a sales representative during my fifteen years at Xerox. My most rewarding assignment in both jobs at Xerox involved training new hire employees. I was charged with ensuring that new hire employees were prepared to begin and successfully perform their job responsibilities. Through classroom work, on the job coaching and field training, I personally trained numerous Xerox new hires in both technical and marketing areas. The personal and professional rewards from these experiences are my fondest memories of my time at Xerox.

Now I am working with high school students in much the same way I did with new hire employees. Xerox provided me with the techniques and tools needed to train employees. Additional awareness and knowledge gained in undergraduate and post baccalaureate coursework in secondary education has ensured my success as a classroom instructor. I enjoy my current assignment as a teacher in the Applied Technology Department at Sunnyslope High School - GUHSD.

My entire life has prepared me for my teaching assignment. All my work either as a mechanic, technician, marketing representative or business owner has taught me to plan, implement and follow through. I bring to the classroom many diverse and varied experiences that formed my strong work ethic and commitment to my students at Sunnyslope.
